QUSTOM QUEEN
"About me:1982 saw the introduction of the first Nike Air Force One, it is also the year that I was born, so I guess you could say I was born to do this. I specialise in producing one off pieces of art, the main difference between myself and other artists, is that my canvas is shoes. I have always had a passion for art and fashion, so it was only natural that I combined the two.
I live by one main fashion principle - Being Individual. The desire to wear clothing and accessories that no one else owned is what demanded the introduction of Qustom Queen. No two people are the same, so why would you want to wear the same as everyone else? I love to make a statement through what I wear. At the end of 2006, Qustom Queen was invited to display some of her work on the prestigious 'SneakerPimps' tour. This is a great honour indeed... many try and fail every year. "I didnt even submit my work to them... they approached me to design a couple of pairs for them" There are now three pairs of Qustoms on the tour.
I understand the need for individuality when it comes to making a statement through your kicks, which is where the term 'As Unique As You Are' was created. Feb/March 2007 saw the first ever pair of heat sensitive 'colorchange customs' available in the world.
Another first, brought to you by the Qustom Queen. In November 2007, at the UK Urban Fashion Awards, Qustom Queen won the title of Best Customizing Designer with thousands of votes coming in from all over the UK and beyond. I have an individual design concept - you can come to me with your ideas and we can work on them together to produce your ultimate piece of wearable art."
