WHOA!

Starting Thursday we had one of the most eventful weekends in the HISTORY of YUME (hmmmm, I might be exagerating that one, but it was pretty damn eventful). It all started with THE CLASS REUNION, which has deffinitley been an event that has organically progressed quite nicely over the past few months. We can't wait until August, when we ROCK THE BLOCK!

Then on to our July 4th, which was filled with good BBQ and a relaxed day.

Saturday July 5th, was off the hook. YUME utilized one of its community partnerships to take over 20 young Crown Heights Skate Boarders to the AFRO-PUNK Skate Park. The only thing that could possibly compete with that fulfillment was to see our favorite AT ALIEN grace the stage, none other than the illustrious MS. JANELE MONAE.

And we might have failed to mention our special guest throughout the weekend, but some things are best left to the imagination.

Big shouts to the LIVE WIRE, MOS DEF, MONE DIVINE, , JANELE MONAE, PRINT, J, and everyone else that helped to make this weekend so momentous. It is certainly one for the history books. Can't wait ti bust loose in the FALL. SHEESH!

THE YUME CREATIVE WORKSHOP

I know you've heard us mention THE YUME WORKSHOP before, we're officially under way in prepping the workshop for its launch. THE YUME CREATIVE WORKSHOP will be home to famed sculpters, THE YUME STYLISTICS, photographers, set designers, and creatives alike, partnered with YUME giving them a space to work and create in THE YUME CREATIVE WORKSHOP. (Think the 3rd Ward, but on a smaller scale and in CROWN HEIGHTS BROOKLYN.)

We will be bringing you great projects and products that will be exclusive to YUME and for purchase. Look out for the profiles we do on each partner/family member throughout the next couple weeks. The official launch date for THE YUME CREATIVE WORKSHOP will be announced shortly. Stay tuned...

YUME:COMMUNITY: BRIDGING THE GAP

Alot is continuously changing in Brooklyn these days. There is a continuous series of buildings being built particularly in the lower Brooklyn neighborhoods (CROWN HEIGHTS, BED STUY, RED HOOK, etc.) YUME will be embarking on a project we like to call "BRIDGING THE GAP." With the displacement and disconcertion of residents in these neighborhoods who can not afford the new high rents or barely making their rent, we feel there is nothing that inspires them daily.

YUME in collaboration with SEE ONE and a few other artists in the YUME FAM, will be doing murals throughout these areas to incite hope and inspiration into the residents that feel hopeless as well as giving the new residents something they can appreciate. We hope to BRIDGE THE GAP between the new and old residents by sparking conversation through different messages of unity within the reality of what is happening in Brooklyn and how it has an adverse effect on both new and old residents within these geographic areas, that are prime real estate for the new developments being built.

Make sure you look out for more posts on this project and if you want to get involved please e-mail us at yumeuk@gmail.com
