When Creative Worlds Collide: Brooklyn's First Loftique Starts
Things Off With A Bang!


Proving that dreams can come true, entrepreneurs Mike Peterson
and Khalid Sumner, introduce YUME BKNY as Brooklyn’s new
destination for skate and art supplies, as well as the
latest in street fashion. Coining the term “loftique”,
these go-getters have positioned YUME as a loft style
boutique in the heart of the flourishing Crown Heights
section of BK. A passion for graffiti/street art,
skating, and fashion is what birthed and nurtured the
idea into fruition. The one-of-a-kind cultural hub seeks
to provide an avenue to bring the three worlds together,
while examining their collective impact on the rest of
the world. Expect to find installations by well known
artists, and a select range of premium wears. To
celebrate the shop’s grand opening on September 30, YUME
will be hosting a party that night (7pm-12am) at
Sputnik, located at 262 Taffe Pl. in Fort Greene.
Legendary Brooklyn turtablist Evil Dee will be spinning,
so make sure you’re on the list.

Graff artist Meres finally came by to finish up the last wall for us! We believe he toiled most of the night to get this done but dammit if genius work doesn't take time to create...

And so we begin our journey through time that revels in excitement, mystery, drunken spells, and all around good times!

Well I could bore you with writing but I'm a visual kind of person so I will keep the writing to a minimum for these "Takin' It Back..." postings that are about to ensue!

So after grinding at our day jobs Khalid and I stoped by the East Vil vintage shop called Beauty Crisis (7th bet 1st and A) to visit our homegirl Kerin at her shop using our certified pimp charm to get her A-Morir tees in our shop (:-P).... After showing us the hotness she's got in the form of creative tees, she then pulled out these joints....


Don't adjust your montiors--- those are hand-glued Swarwovski Crystal Converse Sneakers!!!

Coming to YUME... she glues every single one of those crystals to create a bad-ass product as such.

Hey people we have been so hard at work with the shop we have neglected to post. We will try to keep you abreast of the new stuff as the days go by.

That being said, 5 DAYS AND COUNTING PEOPLE!!! Until the dopest shop in BK opens. We have had some crazy times and will be posting pics from the past and present throughout the week. But in the mean time we will try to update you on what has happend in the past week, over the course of the next day or so.

You know we love music and with the growth of bad music in the major label market we've turned to some dope indie artists that we truly believe deserve some light. In turn we've decided to give you a chance to check them out. On September 30th, if you haven't heard, we will be celebrating the beggining of more hard work with a launch party. It'll be going down over at one of our favorite Brooklyn spots Sputnik (located at 262 Taffe Place btwn Dekalb & Willoughby) Peep the flier below and make sure you check out these artists and their music, its deffo gonna be a problem.

Rumor has it they will also be doing a weekly show called PURPLE REIGN, where they compete to out do each others live shows and destroy the showcase circuit in NYC. MAKE SURE YOU LOOK OUT FOR THESE CATS THEY ARE STARS, AND THATS A FACT JACK!!

YUME has been chosen out of many events to grace VH1's website as one of the premiere spots to visit during the Hip Hop Honors weekend (Oct.4th -7th).
Shocked? Don't be. We actually DO have something going on :-P

YUME will host a free cocktail party on Saturday October 6th, 2007 from 12-5pm at the loft! We are selling special edition cut-n-sew hoodies and sweatshirts with applique images of some great Hip Hop Honorees (past and present). Special hand painted tees will be designed on-site by graff artist See One.

This week brought on a slew of Fashion Week and the end of summer parites which resulted in lots of open bars. We went out to a few of the illest parties in existence...

Low and behold @ MissBehave we bumped into mega star, KANYE WEST, who is now YUME FAM. Shout outs to Samantha, Brooke, Annmarie and Oxy of MissBehave, JeffStaple and Nico @ The Reed Space and all of the crew over at Recon--- Keep doin' it well...

So we had the distinct pleasure to hang out at the REED SPACE last night with the quentesential (sorry for the spelling lol) guru in design these days, Mr. Jeff Staple. Who also happens to be one of the coolest people in the world!!! He offered some advice to us and we exchanged a few jokes. I just have to say he deffinitely gave us the energy we needed to tackle a new day. Hopefully he will start that mentoring program we spoke about, LOL. Anywhoo peep the pics, the art was crazy and the COLT 45 was flowing like nobody's business.
